Holiday Greetings from Tom Polk

After thirty years in real estate, I'm comfortable with the ebb and flow of business.  Although  I've not been as busy as in previous years,  I get to have more time with my family.

Our younger daughter, Kisa, and I are about to perform our yearly duties with Operation Blue Santa.    We are part of a team that cooperates with the Austin Police Department, visiting homes in our neighborhood each December to collect toys for those who can't afford them.   My company alone visits 13,000 homes each year.  The program is successful;  the work is both fun and fulfilling.

Kisa wants to sing professionally.  For now she sings in the eighth grade Varsity Choir.  At home, she sings all the time.  Our house is as full of music as when we had two children at home!

The photo below is of her choir singing holiday songs  in the Texas State Capitol.

Our older daughter, Rachel, is enjoying her sophomore year at Furman University in South Carolina, where she has a music scholarship.  This Thanksgiving she had her wisdom teeth removed.  No turkey then, no horn playing for a while.  When we visted her this fall, I was taken by how pretty her school's bell tower looks at night, so I took this photo.

My wife, Judy Kostura, is a lawyer.  Over the last few years, she's become the foremost Texas expert on subrogation.  She's recognized nationwide.  Earlier this year, she spoke at a national meeting in San Francisco focusing on recent changes in insurance law.

As for me, I continue to fine tune my real estate practice.  It's been my  pleasure to help many of you this year.  Austin continues to do well, bringing new business.   In addition to my regular work, I took on the major project of  reorganizing and updating  my website using modern coding.

Aside from work, I had a great time with my Tesla Coil at Halloween, playing my own tricks on the trick-or-treaters.

2009 has been a good year. We are thankful.  2009 causes me to realize how fortunate we are, even during softer markets.   I know that recovery will follow.  And during such times,  I'm  aware of the business you've sent my way.  I appreciate it.

Best wishes for a warm holiday season and a fabulous new year!
