The following charts show two years of rental amounts in some of the major Austin areas. Note two things: 1. The peaks show that highest demand is for less expensive rentals 2. In every area, the demand for rent property has skyrocketed over two years Williamson County has been the second fastest growing county in the nation, according to the 2002 U.S. Government census. Home to Leander, Cedar Park and Round Rock, it boasts highly rated schools in Leander ISD and Round Rock ISD. Note that the highest number of rentals are in the range of $800-1000/month.  The number of rentals has more than doubled in two years. Hays County was the 26th fastest growing county in the nation, according to the 2002 Census. Considering how many counties there are in the nation, there's not much difference in #2 and #26. Hays County is home to Kyle and Buda (pronounce the "Bu" like"few'). Hays ISD is highly acclaimed, recently the fourth fastest growing school district in Texas.  The schools are unusually attactive. Note Manor's incredible overnight rental growth. For years Manor (pronounced "Mainer") has been a barely noticed community on the highway to Houston.  In recent years, it's proximity to downtown Austin and I-35 has caused it's population to explode.  Now the Parmer Lane extension puts Manor within minutes of Dell Computer and Samsung.  Superhighway SH130 is scheduled for completion in 2007, which promises even more growth.
