This Silvertone portable was built in 1950, the year my brother was born.

I decided to get this one because I am attracted to  rich green plastic, especially when it is marbleized.

This is one of the few early plastic radios that made use of plastic's plastic properties: The case is poured in one piece, as opposed to having doors for batteries or repair access.   The whole chassis slides out from the bottom.

Fifty years old, and it sounds great!
