This Candle table radio exhibits two odd characteristics. It is battery powered only and it has trailing wires rather than jacks for antenna and earth connections. Read on to find out why.

The salmon color is typical for the era. For such a huge radio, it has a tiny circuit board, resulting in a lot of empty space inside. This feature along with the cabinet being fully sealed, yields excellent, loud sound.

This radio is tropicalized: The manufacturer sealed the speaker hole with acoustially transparent cloth, installed felt washers on the control knobs, and sealed openings for the antenna and earth connections. This is to keep critters out.
